Painted from the Sacromonte hill looking across to the Alhambra and down towards the modern city with the hills behind. Usually artists paint the Alhambra from the Albaicin so they can capture the backdrop of the snowy peaks of the Sierra Nevada. In summer though, when there is no snow on the mountains, this offers an interesting alternative composition. The lush, summer greenery is beautiful but makes it difficult to achieve the areal perspective. This is one of the few views which includes the Alhambra and the later, great Cathedral in the modern city centre. You can just make out the Cathedral between the trees right of centre.
