The light and colours this time of year are superb for painting the coast of the Parque Natural de Cabo de Gata, Almeria, Spain. This watercolour is of the rock pools at the end of El Playazo beach, Rodalquilar. One of the beautiful beaches near my home in Las Negras. In the background is the old castle, Bateria de San Ramon, which was built to protect the valley behind from Berber pirates who marauded along this coast in centuries past. I included my granddaughters, Izzy and Ellie and my dog Daisy to bring life to the composition.
The medium is watercolour
