I have painted this lovely square in the historic centre of Granada several times and all the originals have been bought by collectors. I have always painted it looking the opposite way to feature the Cathedral tower and with the light behind me and from what I have seen of other paintings this is the standard, popular aspect. Here though I am looking away from the Cathedral to the bottom of the square and into the light. What attracted me, apart from the beautiful buildings and autumn colors, was the interesting shadows cast by the low November sun which added interest to the composition.
